LA Harbor College Spring 2023 Dual Enrollment

LA Harbor College is offering Art 103 (Art Appreciation) and Political Science 001 (The Government of the United States) as Dual Enrollment courses to Narbonne students for the Spring 2023 semester. See attached flyer for a description of the courses.

Political Science 001 - Monday & Wednesday, 3:30 p.m. to 4:55pm in person at Narbonne HS.
Art 103 - Tuesday & Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to 4:55pm in person at Narbonne HS.

Below is information about the two courses:
Dual Enrollment classes are open to all students, 9th to 12th grade
Both classes are after school and are in person at Narbonne.
Both college classes are CSU & UC transferable and will give you college credit if passed with a C or better.
Political Science 01 will give you high school credit for Principals of American Democracy, a graduation requirement taken in 12th grade.
Taking a college class will make you a competitive applicant for college.
If students are interested in taking one or both Dual Enrollment Classes, please have them complete the Dual Enrollment Interest Form:

Students can visit the Counseling Office or College Center if they have questions about the Dual Enrollment courses.

Thursday, October 13th @ 5pm –College information Night
Thursday, October 20th @ 5pm – Financial Aid Night: How to pay for college

The Narbonne College Center is hosting two important college related events in October!

The first event is the College Info Night on Thursday, October 13th in the MPR.
Representatives from El Camino College, CSU Dominguez Hills and UCLA will be presenting about their campus’ academic programs and majors, campus resources, admission requirements, how to apply to their campus and important admission dates and deadlines. The presentation is open to all Narbonne students and & their families. This is a great opportunity for 10th and 11th graders to learn about their college options.

The second event is the Financial Aid Night on Thursday, October 20th in the MPR. Come learn how to pay for college, the cost of attending college, different types of financial aid, the FAFSA and CA Dream Act Application and financial aid timeline. This presentation is for seniors and their parents or guardians.
The financial aid presentation will be done in English and Spanish.

PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 9 - Wednesday, 10/12/22

On Wednesday, October 12th , Narbonne High School will administer the PSAT/NMSQT to ALL 10th graders and 11th graders. The PSAT 9 will be administered to all 9th grade students.

Benefits of the PSAT/NMSQT: The PSAT/NMSQT will prepare students for the SAT, and will qualify juniors for over 20 different scholarships, including the National Merit Scholarship.

Registering and Cost for PSAT: Students do not need to register or pay to take the PSAT. All 9th, 10th and 11th graders have already been signed-up to take the PSAT on College Board. The District will cover the cost of the PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 9 exam for all students.

NOTE - If you do not want your son or daughter to take the PSAT, please contact Ms. Campos, College Counselor, at [email protected] You will need to complete a Parent PSAT Waiver form.
